About Little Olives
Hello and thank you for stopping by… my name is Claire Williamson and I’m a family and branding photographer based in Penshurst, a lovely corner of Kent, probably best known for stunning Penshurst Place.
Having previously worked for a nutrition charity in London, I started learning photography in 2013. Back then I had two young children and I really wanted to be able to take better photos of them as they were growing up. They grow up so fast and I literally wanted to try and stop time in its tracks and capture those little moments – first smiles, first steps, first day at school…. both are now at secondary school, with the eldest soon to enter the sixth form – it really does all go by in the blink of an eye!
We booked a photographer to take photos of the girls at our home when they were little. I watched them work with intrigue and I think this is what inspired me to start on my photography journey. We absolutely loved the photos and soon afterwards I invested in my first DSLR camera. I then took a foundation course in photography and after that I was simply hooked! I’ve since undertaken more training in portrait photography with some of the UK’s leading child and family photographers, including Kay Young and Nina Mace.
I’ve always been drawn to photographing people, especially children. I really enjoy capturing innocent moments, or an image that simply says childhood. I love to photograph outdoors, taking advantage of the natural light and changing seasons. I often use the beautiful parks and gardens we have on our doorstep as a backdrop for my family photo sessions. I have experience of photographing children of all ages, from babies to teenagers and my aim is always to create beautiful imagery that your family can enjoy for years to come.
I also work with other local businesses and brands, creating images for websites, marketing and social media. I really enjoy meeting and working with other mums in business and creative entrepreneurs, helping them to bring their brands to life with inspiring imagery.
I count myself very fortunate to do something that I really enjoy. There is so much variety….no two days are ever the same. One day I might be photographing a tiny newborn baby at home, the next day doing a branding session, followed by a wedding or special occasion at the weekend. I love working with people and the creative side of photography but there is always something new to learn too.
Aside from photography, I love coffee and wine in equal measure and try to spend any spare time I have with my family. I love the changing seasons, long summer holidays exploring new places and I’m obsessed with light!
I’m a qualified member of the Society of Wedding and Portrait Photographers (SWPP) having been awarded my Licentiateship in Photography (LSWPP). I am also a qualified member of the Guild of Photographers.
